Originally intending a career in the health care field as a Physical Therapist, I suddenly switched gears and dropped out halfway through the intensive med school program once I stepped foot in a real hospital during interning clinicals. Maybe it was the drab décor and sterility of the hospitals ... maybe it was the smell of stale and medicated air … or maybe it was just the seriousness of it all. It didn’t feel like me.

 

So I up and moved out to the City of Angels for a little vacay to rethink my future plans. Maybe it was the smog filled air … maybe it was the incessant sunshine beating down on my head all the time … somehow I came to the conclusion that this city is full of natural and “bought” beauty which inspires me to just be happy and smile and create interesting things. So I took a chance, took out more student loans, and went through Art school to become (wait for it, wait for it) a “GRAPHIC DESIGNER!”

 

10+ years into the industry now and I have no regrets. Maybe it’s the fun, creative environments … maybe it’s the odd and strange people I interact with on a daily basis (otherwise known as “Creatives”) … or maybe it’s just the ability to be able to simply “Create” and “Innovate.” All I know is that I simply enjoy smiling, laughing, and occasionally pulling 16 hour days just to put a last minute New Biz presentation together while getting to know people that I otherwise thought were just weirdos … but then I guess I am too.
